ysl-11 Christie’s Auction: A Tribute to YSL
This is indeed great news for all the people who love fashionable designer stuff. You people have the opportunity to take home elite designer apparels as well as accessories at a grand auction. The very well known Christie’s house of auction is going to hold a multi-owner vintage couture sale. This sale would be the first of its kinds. The auction will take place in New York on the 2nd of July. So, try to be free of your appointments on that day to grab the golden prospect. The auction will be a place to witnees the products by the big shots of the fashion world such as Gianni Versace, Balenciaga , Christian Lacroix, Thierry Mugler, and Mainbocher.

What is special about the auction is that it would pay a tribute to the extremely talented and renowned French couturier Yves Saint Laurent who recently passed away. the event would include the display and auction of apparels and jewelry designed by Yves Saint Laurent in every decade of his life. Such a display will show the progress of the dexterous fashion designer.

Laura Leyfer, the couture specialist at Christie’s, remarks that these products are in good condition and are affordable in their prices. Just look at the YSL designed Christian Dior dress from Fall/Winter in 1958. the approximate price of this piece is $1,000-1,500 only while this cut-out floral necklace designed by Saint Laurent for Spring/Summer 1990 would be available roughly for $1,000-1,500.

Dressing for Formal Events

Flatter Your Figure: Dressing for Formal Events.Dresses and Skirts, Evening wear, Flatter Your Figure

Formal events are often the events for which we want to look our very best. You might be seeing people you haven’t seen for a while, or meeting new people you’d like to impress. Either way, you want to look absolutely amazing.
The thing is, formal gowns often show body parts we normally keep covered, like our backs, shoulders, and arms, and they sometimes cling to our stomachs and hips in ways that are unflattering — not exactly what we’re going for on a big night out, right?
Here are some tips for working with your figure when finding a dresses for a formal event:

Dress of the Day: Rory Beca Virginia Dress

Dress of the Day: Rory Beca Virginia Dress.Dress of the Day, Dresses and Skirts

We’re doing a second Dress of the Day today, partially because our motivation melted in the late-June heat yesterday, and partially because we couldn’t wait until tomorrow to gawk at this silk handkerchief masquerading as a mini dress. The Virginia Silk Mini Dress by designer Rory Beca is a little wrap style dress, and by “little,” we mean “extremely super tiny,” that is held closed in the front with a snap button at the crossover V neckline and a solid sash belt that ties.

Apparently, there is an elastic waistband that would be helpful for those of us who might need a little bit of give around the waist, but really, if that were the case, we shouldn’t be wearing a dress that falls a mere 17″ from the natural waistline. The dress features side slash pockets which we assume is only for show. If you put anything in those pockets, they’d drag the dress right off your body.

Available from Saks Fifth Avenue for $322.

A secret craving for pink and green that only Lilly Pulitzer can satisfy

A secret craving for pink and green that only Lilly Pulitzer can satisfy.Casual wear, Dresses and Skirts, Celebrity Style

We must confess: Deep in the pit of our black goth heart, we totally dig preppy stuff. Not just that punky plaid stuff. We’re talking clothes that pair pink with green. Orange with turquoise. Bright yellow with more yellow.

It goes with the dream of a summer place on the Vineyard, preferably next door to Carly Simon. In the closet would be a vivid Lilly Pulitzer dress- and capri-filled wardrobe. We would also be pleasantly buzzed on G&Ts all day long, and tan without freckles or skin cancer.

Going pro: What your color says about you.

Somewhere during your grown-up years, chances are you’ll have the opportunity to attend some sort of networking event. And, while you could go with the resume tee, in some professions that might not go over all that well — you need to find a more polished, professional look.

However, before you throw on your trusty old suit, think about the message you want to send. Just as the type of attire you choose (suit, dress, etc.) says something about you, the color you choose sends a message to prospective contacts and employers.
