Steal This Cool Girl's Denim Look Now

kat-perfect-outfit-denim.jpg

Seriously, what is with this weather? We've pulled out the wool coats, unpacked the scarves, and might have even started mitten shopping, when suddenly, we're reaching under the bed for our shorts. Today's high is supposed to reach an unseasonal 69 degrees, which is why we want to emulate our new intern, Kat George, who rocked a denim-on-denim look with a sheer blouse, high-heeled Doc martens, a slouchy black purse, and of course, the requisite jeans and shearling jacket. George, who's Australian by birth, just hopped the globe from Melbourne by way of London, where she's very used to Mother Nature being super-schizo. She helped us round up 5 pieces to copy her look. Now if you could only hear her accent…

Check out these five finds to snag this Aussie's cool denim look:

Essential #1: Denim and Shearling Jacket—Comfortable, easy, and amazingly priced, this denim number is the perfect fall piece—warm enough to wear in November, but not too hot for now.

Essential #2: Dark Wash Denim Jeans—You've had these forever...or at least that's what you can tell your friends. Kinda cropped and majorly beat up, these babies are vintage, even though they're brand new.

Essential #3: Sheer Oxford Blouse—Even if you didn't think you'd be wearing a sheer blouse right about now, you have to acknowledge that this number works, especially layered over your favorite white tank.

Essential #4: Natural Cheek Stain—Oh my, what healthy cheeks you have! Yeah we know you're wearing makeup, but everyone else will think you've just got a natural glow.

Essential #5: Black Patent Combat Heels—We're not gonna even try to substitute the exact boots that Kat's rocking right—sometimes the original really is the best.

Your Guide To Fall Skirts New Era

You'd think that with all the incredible slouchy trousers, high-waisted pants, and gorgeous dresses spilling out of our closets this autumn, we couldn't possibly make room in there for some skirts. Well, you'd be wrong. This fall and winter is definitely a major skirt season with everyone from Phillip Lim and Rag & Bone to CĂ©line and Dries van Noten giving us all manner of versions to literally lust for. Unlike dresses, skirts require a bit more mixing and matching, especially considering the daring lengths that are giving this classic closet staple new life. But given our five categories that are leading the season—knee-length, mini, maxi, full, and pencil we're positive you'll get plenty of incentive to switch up your pants and jeans routine for something entirely more interesting.
